TENTH ENTRY

Assalamualaikum J this is the last entry for this blog J

So, what I would like to highlight in this entry is a very thankful and a lot of appreciation to
Miss Umi and Madam Huda because be my lecturer for this subject, Strategic Management. For me, this subject has very good knowledge that can be apply in business environment. I am so glad because Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia give the opportunity to learn this subject.
Even though this subject have a lot of things to read (a little bit wordy.. hehehe) but this is reality,
before we practice all the knowledge we must know the theory so we will not deviate from the real knowledge. After learn this subject I can know how the company and organization
operate well in this world. The SWOT analysis and TOWS matrix is a good thing that I learn in this subject. It make me think out of the box while do that. Seriously,
if I am not going to learn this subject I will never know what the strategy used by all the
company and organization and how their maintain to struggle well in this business.
The case study gives me a lot of information how the company try to survive and
make people notice the existence. Business, for me is the challenging field that suitable for
entrepreneur who dares to take a risk. Like O’Shima sharing session, this is
one of the best sharing session among Muslim entrepreneur. As a Muslim and we live in the
Muslim country, but surround with other races, we should know and have awareness what happen within us. That’s why Madam Asnidar (owner of O’Shima) takes the first move to provide Halal Japanese Food. Last but not least, happy to know both of you, till we met again J pray for our success especially examination is around the corner. May Allah Bless J

LITTLE SHARING :)

Sabda Rasulullah S.A.W. yang bermaksud:

(Riwayat Imam Muslim"

Thanks once again to Miss Umi and Madam Huda for sharing your experiences, knowledge, stories and all the things that benefit us. Jzkk :)

NINTH ENTRY

Assalmualaikum J for this entry I would like to share about online forum that I joined in tutorial class J

1) If you are one of the TOP managers, what kind values would like to inculcate in your organization? Why does it so?

Answer:
for me corporate culture is important in an organization because it will also bring the image of an organization. If an organization can develop the healthy and good corporate culture thats mean the organization have positive environment towards their workers. The good and corporate culture also can attract more potential workers to the organization and can increase the productivity of an organization. For me, as one of the top managers, if I worked in bumiputera oraganization (all Malays) I will try to develop Islamic corporate culture that parallel with vision, mission, or needs of my organization. So they can see the related and the relationship by doing that. For example every morning short motivation and Islamic sharing knowledge. But of I worked with mix races, I will try develop corporate culture that can be accepted to all my employees. I also will try to ensure that the entire employee will respect each other. For example make a festival calendar which have all races festive season and we can do sharing session, pot luck based on their festival.

2) What do you think about motivation and rewards?

Answer:
for me motivation and reward is two different things. Motivation is what causes us to act. For example if we want to gain knowledge, we have to read book or if we are thirsty, we must get some water to drink. While reward is give something as recognition for their effort, services, or achievement. For example, Aiman got flying colors in examination result, so his father rewards him iphone 5. There are also two different of motivation. Which are extrinsic and intrinsic? Extrinsic is you do the job because you know the reward or you do the job because to avoid punishment. For example, study hard to get the good grade and you clean the room to avoid from scold by your parents. While intrinsic is you do the job because you feel it’s good for your sake rather than the external reward. For example, you join the scrabble competition because you enjoy doing it rather than want to win that competition. Just want to share; I had followed my father attending one of bank rakyat appreciation event. that event will be held once a year. in that event bank rakyat will gives incentives for workers and reward for their loyal employment services start from 10 years, 15 years and so on. i also impressive with that event because they also not reward the workers but also the (anak2 kepada pekerja) who get good result in examination from upsr, pmr, spm, diploma and so on. heee :))

EIGHTH ENTRY

Assalamualaikum to all readers J for this entry I want to share about O’Shima sharing session.
Full respect to the owner, Madam Asnidar because she have very full of spirit to fight for
Halal Certificate for her business. I think she is one of the Muslim entrepreneurs
that willing to operate this business (Japanese Food Restaurant) as her main business.

Her spirits have to be praised because generally most of the entrepreneur will
open business that familiar with their surroundings. Sometimes they do not want to
take a risk to try the new things. According to Madam Asnidar stories, there are no one
that have Halal Certificate for Japanese Cuisine business. Due to this problem,
it is because some of the suppliers refuse to get Halal Certificate. So that’s why
JAKIM cannot confirm the Halal status. But how Madam Asnidar
overcomes this problem? She makes a move by doing her own brand
ingredients that will be matching with the original taste.
I think this is best solution rather than have to order from the supplier that cannot provide Halal status ingredient. Of course behind the success, will be have failure,
but Madam Asnidar approach it as a challenge for her. An
d the more important is she learned something from that failure J
beside operate the restaurant, O’Shima also provide catering for Corporate Business
such as Daihatsu. She also mentions that she also open class for those who want to
learn how to make Japanese Cuisine. She also joined food carnival as she wants to
introduce their business publiclyJ. I hope that O’Shima Restaurant
and Madam Asnidar will become more success and can faces the challenge calmly.
Maybe one day, In Shaa Allah. Madam Asnidar makes her
business as franchise business and this will give opportunity to other entrepreneur.

SEVENTH ENTRY

Assalamualaikum to all readers J for this entry I want to share about TOWS Matrix (Threats, Opportunities, Weaknesses, and Strength).

TOWS Matrix

This TOWS Matrix is reverse from SWOT Analysis. In SWOT Analysis, we will analyse first strengths and weaknesses then we will analyse last for opportunities and threats.
In TOWS Matrix, we will analyse first threats and opportunities, and we analyse last weaknesses and strength. After we list all the criteria given,
we need to combine it or in other words, Madam Huda always said
“kahwinkan, dan cuba dapatkan anak-anak yang hebat”.
So we have to combine it such as Strength with Opportunities, Weaknesses with Opportunities, Strength and Threats, and Weaknesses with Threats.
Madam Huda start teaches us this TOWS Matrix when we do the study case
“Shall I tag along”. This study case is about how the company wants to
implement the usage of ICT in their business.

this is TOWS Matrix for " Shall I tag Along "  that we do together in the class. :)

this is my group TOWS Matrix for piping hotdog :)

Then we continue this TOWS Matrix for another study case which is “Piping Hot Dog”. Usually we do this activity by group because it more easy. Before this we use A4 paper for write this
TOWS Matrix, but in the tutorial class ask for "mahjong" paper to complete it.

For me this is good activity because this activity will generate our mind to come out with bright ideas. J

SIXTH ENTRY

Assalamualaikum to all readers. This week I learned about The Five Generic Competitive Strategies:  Which One to Employ?
This chapter generally distinguishes each of the five generics strategies and why some of these strategies work better in certain kind of industry and competitive conditions than in others.
The Five Generic Competitive Strategies are low-cost provider, broad differentiation, focused low-cost, focused differentiation, and best-cost provider.

For low-cost provider it makes me think about Air Asia Company that can offer the best low-cost ticket fees.  For sure it will cut some cost are not related so they can provide the best cost price for the customer.

For broad differentiation we can say Apple Inc. use this strategy. They came out with technology that different than other company such as ios program system.

This program just applicable and work with Apple gadgets. From this strategy I think that one of the benefits is can create brand loyalty among customers because there will feel that there have something different than others.

For focused strategies, it will focus more on niche area that they want deliver the product. They will specialize the product to avoid from compete with strong competitors. Ferrari, GAP uses this strategy.

This is answer for lecture activity from this chapter.

BROAD COST LEADERSHIP
Old Town White Coffee

FIFTH ENTRY

Assalamualaikum. For this week I learned about evaluating company’s resources, capabilities, and competitiveness. After learned this topic I will be able discover how to access the company’s strength and weaknesses in light of market opportunities and external threats.
I can also understand how comprehensive evaluation of a company’s competitive situation can assists managers in making critical decisions about their next strategic moves.

The best section in this chapter is SWOT analysis (strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats). Look simple but this is a powerful tool for sizing up
a company’s strengths and weaknesses, its market opportunities,
and the external threats to its future well-being. But remember; simply list those all elements are not enough, it should come out with strategy to improve the company’s situation.
I love this swot analysis because I always use it in my tutorial class by doing study case analysis. From that activity a can identified all the elements in an organization.
The first study case is Robin Hood but we did not use swot analysis.
The second study case is Digital Age: Shall I Tag Along we use start use this approach. Interesting!
The best word to describe this activity inn tutorial class.
We have divided into group so we can work each other and the swot analysis will
come more quickly rather than do it alone.
After finish that activity, Madam Huda had promised us to teach us TOWS MATRIX. In shaa Allah I will share in the next entry. That’s all for this entry. Till we meet again J

FOURTH ENTRY

Assalamualaikum to all readers. Hope you are fine. In shaa Allah J . For this week I learned about vision and mission statement.

Before that I will tell you about what is vision and mission. Vision is our objective. Or in other word it describes briefly what we want to achieve.
Mission is the way or several ideas that help to accomplish the vision. For example, my vision is want to further study in master after finish the degree.
So how I want to achieve that? I must finish or complete my degree successfully. It is vision and mission important? For me yes it is. Both are important in our life or organization.
Because this two words tell others about our goals and to make people clear what we want to achieve
. For me also all companies that exist in this world must have good vision and mission statement to convince the stakeholders and shareholders to be a part in the company
. In my tutorial class Madam Huda ask us in TMA 1 to share with her about our vision and mission.
She told us that she will keep that as her collection and she will wait for us whether
we accomplish the vision and mission after finish our degree
. I think this is a good approach and become more inspired to make it reality.
Thanks Madam Huda for your support. I will try my best to accomplish that.
In this week also we learned about PESTEL analysis. What is pestel? Pestel analysis is an acronym for Politic, Economic, Social, Technological, Environment, and Legal.

This is an analysis that has been used for organization to interpret their external environment. This pestel analysis is important to select the best strategy and business model for the firm.
And we use this in TOWS analysis.
We also learned about 5 competitive models which are competition from rival sellers, competition from potential new entrants, and competition from producers of substitute product, supplier bargaining power, and customer bargaining power.

For this analysis organization can identify the different parties involve and specific factors that bring about competitive pressure. The organization also can classify the how strong the pressure
(strong, moderate, or weak), and can determine whether the forces factors is conducive to earning profits in the industry. I think that’s all for my entry. Till we meet again in other entry. J
